Pyramid Solutions
Launches Cost Effective
EtherNet/IP Connectivity for Motorola RFID Readers
BINGHAM FARMS – April 29, 2008
– Pyramid Solutions, Inc., a Motorola
PartnerSelect ISV and Rockwell Automation Value Added Design
Partner, announced today the release of its NetStaX™ EtherNet/IP to
Low Level Reader Protocol (LLRP) software for Motorola’s XR family
of RFID readers (EIPLD-M). EIPLD-M is a communication driver and
middleware that enables direct EtherNet/IP connectivity for Motorola RFID readers,
allowing them to
interface with any compatible EtherNet/IP Scanner Class Device. This
direct EtherNet/IP connectivity makes the solution simple to deploy and cost
effective.
“Our
customers are very excited about the potential cost savings of this
solution“, says Robert DuBois, President, Pyramid Solutions.
“EIPLD-M eliminates the need for additional computers and complex
cabling, while increasing reliability and reducing total cost of
ownership.”
The EIPLD-M
product includes software that is loaded onto a Motorola RFID reader to add
EtherNet/IP Adapter Class connectivity to the device. The EIPLD-M
software utilizes the reader’s existing LLRP interface to allow a
Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) or other controller to
configure the reader as well as to read and write RFID tags using standard EtherNet/IP
messaging. “Pyramid Solutions’ use of EtherNet/IP expands the types
of solutions available to the Rockwell Automation Integrated
Architecture™ customers while
helping increase the adoption rate of EtherNet/IP,” explains Doug
McEldowney, Business Manager at Rockwell Automation Technologies,
Inc.
The
EIPLD-M package consists of installable middleware and driver,
installation utility, user documentation and sample ControlLogix®
program logic that demonstrates how the controller interacts with
the reader to read tags from one or more of the antennas.
